Sessions are normally 50 minutes. Longer sessions can be discussed for couples or family counseling with other price scales that apply.
-
The first session is an intake session. I will take time to get to know you better as we discuss what made you decide to reach out. I will also give more information about the Informed Consent along with more background into who I am and how I help.
-
Coming every week is the best way to get results out of our sessions. I do have clients who choose to come every other week because of their schedule or financial situation. We can do very good work in either time frame.
-
Most of my clients are with me for a time span in between three to nine months. There is no “right or wrong” length of time. I have some clients who have been with me for several years and come at a different time set up. I have had many that finish what they are working on and then come back years later to work on something else. We will discuss the time length that is right for you. I will never keep you in counseling longer than you need to be there and we will assess how your goals are being accomplished from time to time, even evaluating whether or not it may be time to complete the counseling process.

My practice is 100% private pay. This means I do not accept any forms of insurance. Please, look at the information at the below that describes the benefits of private pay counseling for clients.
-
Some of the advantages are listed below:
Flexible scheduling and availability
No insurance equals less documentation. This results in more quality time to focus on therapy.
You choose the therapist best suited to your needs rather than the insurance company telling you who to see.
Mental health diagnosis is not mandatory and not submitted to your private health records.
More services are allowed without restrictions such as online counseling and tele-counseling.
No limit on the amount of sessions or time of your session.
You are guaranteed privacy and confidentiality.
Stigma of some diagnoses can often be avoided.
Private pay clients are able to choose the focus, duration, and frequency of therapy. You are even allowed to choose the length of sessions.
Research shows that clients who have to pay something for their treatment have more positive outcomes than those who receive free treatment.
You or your child won’t be labeled with a mental health diagnosis unless you request this type of assessment.
Insurance premiums and life insurance policies will not increase based of mental health diagnosis and treatments.
You won’t have to worry that your health records will be included in the MIB and create problems for you or your child in the future.

I work with clients seeking help for anxiety, depression, grief, sports performance, relationship issues, existential/spiritual issues, and trauma. I can see clients presenting issues outside of what was just listed. We would need to set up a consultation to see if I would be a good fit.

I have a specialization in helping clients who are seeking counseling according to the teachings of the Catholic Church. We combine the best practices of mental health counseling with the wisdom of the faith.
Many of my clients are not looking for this and as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Texas I also see clients from the best evidence based practices.
