My approach
Your progress matters to me.
I know firsthand how complex and overwhelming mental health challenges can be. My own personal experiences, along with my professional training, have shaped how I relate to others and helps me connect with what you’re going through in a way that’s both genuine and compassionate. I don’t just listen, I truly understand how it feels to navigate doubts, fears, and pain.
In our work together, my role is to listen deeply, reflect honestly, and ask questions that open up new perspectives. We’ll explore your thoughts and put them on trial when it feels helpful, challenging the beliefs that may be holding you back while respecting that only you know what’s right for you. This path is uniquely yours with all of its twists, turns, hills, and valleys. You are allowed to make your own decisions about this journey, and together, we’ll focus on what feels true for you—not someone else’s opinion.
I believe in setting realistic goals and asking questions to guide meaningful change.
What is something small you could do this week to support yourself? Are you drawing on your support system or trying to handle everything on your own? By breaking things down into manageable steps, you can do small things with great love, getting closer to the life you envision.
Above all, I’m not here to waste your time. I’ll offer guidance, supplementary resources, and practical tools for finding solutions that work for you because I believe in your ability to transform and grow. Change isn’t easy, but when we start by doing what is necessary, then what is possible, suddenly we find ourselves doing the impossible.
The process
I believe in a collaborative approach to therapy, so I’ll challenge and encourage your own independence throughout this process. My goal is for you to feel empowered, rather than dependent on me. Here’s how we’ll work together:
Getting started: Intake questionnaire
We’ll begin with an intake questionnaire that helps me understand your background and what brings you here.
01
Building connection: First session
In our first session, we’ll dive deeper into your story. I’ll ask you a series of questions to get to know you better, focusing on your experiences, challenges, and aspirations.
02
Envisioning change: Goal setting
This session is about solidifying your goals. I’ll introduce the miracle question from Solution-Focused Therapy: If you went home, took a nap, and a miracle happened in your life, what would be different? How would your relationships, work, and everyday vision of yourself change? We’ll refer back to this vision as we progress.
03
Creating a roadmap: Treatment plan
Together, we’ll create a tailored treatment plan that aligns with your goals.
04
Focusing forward: Skill development
In these sessions, we’ll focus on one specific goal, applying skill-based support and psychoeducation. I’ll guide you in learning practical tools to help you move forward.
05
Reflecting on progress: Outcomes assessment
We’ll conduct an outcomes assessment to discuss your progress. We’ll explore areas of growth, what’s been helpful, and what may need adjustment.
06
You might wonder how often you’ll need to come and for how long, as well as what I mean by "homework" when I assign it.
My intention is for you to walk away with something valuable after each session, and I’ll help you identify one actionable step you can take to support yourself between our meetings. Together, we’ll explore various dimensions of wellness—physical, relational, emotional, and spiritual—to create a holistic approach to your growth.
Diving deeper: Implementation of the treatment plan
This is where the real work begins as we dive into your treatment plan. Typically, our journey together lasts between 3 to 9 months, and I encourage weekly sessions, though biweekly is also an option.
